Spalletti: We Achieved a Very Important Victory, and We Must Maintain Focus
Monday 15-12-2025
Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Juventus, spoke after the hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bologna in the Italian league, emphasizing the importance of the win both technically and morally. He praised his players' performance while also pointing out areas that need improvement in some of the team members.

Spalletti said: "This is definitely my most important win with Juventus so far, because we faced a team with a clear identity, great quality, and high enthusiasm. They are well-built, and even after playing with ten men, they made the match extremely difficult for us."

He continued: "Winning here holds a very special value for the players, and for that, they should be congratulated this evening. They delivered a great match and handled the pressure in the right way."

Spalletti added, speaking about the team's overall performance: "I saw positive things in training, and I told the management that the players are showing energy and good reactions. We needed a performance that would give us confidence, and I hope we continue to improve after this match."

He continued: "Beyond the goal of winning, team performance is the most important in football. Juventus was present at the heart of the match throughout the 90 minutes, fought for every ball, and overcame the individual challenges imposed by Bologna. This is a very positive sign for the future."

He continued speaking about Juan Cabal, saying: "Cabal needs to learn to control his emotions better. He is a strong and fast player, like a racehorse, with clear talent and technical touches. But talent also means consistency and putting in repeated effort. He wasn't accurate enough compared to his abilities in previous matches, which is why I was strict with him."

Regarding Louis Opina and Jonathan David, Spalletti said: "I liked Opina's performance; he is a different type of player compared to Jonathan David. David is more like a second striker because he excels at linking up with his teammates, while Opina has greater strength and speed and feels more comfortable against teams like Bologna when there is space available."

Spalletti concluded his remarks by affirming: "This victory gives us an important boost, but we must maintain our focus and work towards continuous improvement, as the road ahead is still long."
