Al-Ettifaq Club of Saudi Arabia is awaiting the league association's decision to determine the future of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, amid the uncertainty surrounding his continuation as the upcoming winter transfer window approaches.

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" reported that Al-Ettifaq's management is awaiting a response from the Recruitment Committee of the Professional League Association in order to make a final decision regarding the renewal of Wijnaldum's contract.

The newspaper explained that the player's continued stay with Al-Ettifaq is directly linked to the support provided by the recruitment committee, with the full picture expected to become clear in the coming weeks.

The sources indicated that the club's management will soon determine its final position, whether to insist on keeping Wijnaldum in the team or to seek alternative options for his position.

Wijnaldum will enter the free agency period of his contract with Al-Ettifaq in January 2026, which gives him the right to sign with any other club without needing approval from his current club's management.

The 31-year-old Dutch midfielder joined Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023, coming from Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, he has played in 77 matches, scoring 26 goals and providing 11 assists.
