Reasons for the Absence of Emam Ashour and Nasser Maher from the Arab Cup
Ahmed Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team that participated in the Arab Cup, revealed the reasons behind the absence of some players from the tournament.
Ahmed Hassan said on his program "The Captain" on DMC channel: "We used to have 7 players from Pyramids: Ahmed El-Shenawy, Mahmoud Gad, Ahmed Sami, Mahmoud Marai, Karim Hafez, Qatta, Zalaka, and Marwan Hamdy."
He continued: "Pyramids agreed to Marwan Hamdi joining the Egyptian national team not as support for the national teams, but because the Moroccan federation contacted them to acquire El Karti. Therefore, they agreed to Hamdi joining Egypt as a player in exchange for a player."
He continued: "We wanted to include the trio of Mohamed Ismail, Salah Mohsen, and Emam Ashour, but Hossam Hassan included them in the senior national team, which definitely has priority, and I cannot approach any player in the senior national team."
He mentioned: "Ahmed Hegazi refused to join, Abdullah Al-Saeed wanted to come directly for the tournament, Nasser Maher wished to join the senior national team and Captain Helmy contacted him, but he did not join. Hussein El Shahat, Abdelkader, and Al-Ash suffered various injuries, and we were unable to include them."
Ahmed Hassan concluded: "In addition to all that, there are four Egyptian clubs participating in the African tournaments, so we were unable to include many players and had to select based on those available."
