The encounter witnessed a clear physical clash between Delap and Bournemouth defender Marco Sensi, before the latter fell on him inside the penalty area during one of the corner kicks, causing the Chelsea forward to get injured.
Delap left the pitch immediately heading to the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms, with his arm fixed in a temporary sling made from his shirt, indicating the intensity of the pain he was experiencing.
