FIFA President: The Halftime Break at the World Cup Will Be Long
Friday 05-12-2025
Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), announced the approval of a technical performance during the halftime break of World Cup matches, similar to the famous Super Bowl shows in the American football league.

Infantino's statement came during the World Cup draw ceremony held on Friday evening, where he confirmed that the halftime break would no longer be fixed at the usual 15 minutes and could be extended up to 30 minutes to allow time for large-scale artistic and entertainment performances.

Infantino praised the idea of adding a new entertainment element to the final of the world's biggest tournament, a move aimed at enhancing the event's appeal and increasing fan engagement.

Gianni Infantino said in his speech: "The halftime interval of World Cup matches will be very long."

The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and will be jointly hosted by 16 cities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
