Thursday 04-12-2025
Diego Simeone, the coach of Atlético Madrid, expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance in the match they lost against Barcelona, emphasizing the positive aspects observed during the game. His statements after the match were as follows:

Simeone said: "I am very happy with the team's performance. We started the match very well, then they managed to cause some damage to us from the inside. In the second half, they started a little better, but from the 20th minute onwards, we began to press to get back into the game. We had three important scoring opportunities that we couldn't capitalize on, but I am happy with the team."

He added about Barcelona's style of play: "We know they have a very good foot, they play with many players inside, and that is what allowed them to capitalize on the first and second goals excellently."

He continued about the second-half tactics: "At halftime, we said we couldn't let them play through the middle. We worked on improving that gradually. I liked the spirit with which the team finished the match. We didn't win, that's true, but I liked the team."

Regarding the key players: "Rafinha plays in all positions, scores goals, and applies pressure. I don't know how he hasn't won the Ballon d'Or. Païna is a very talented player, developing a lot and has the courage to play anywhere he's assigned. Julian is an outstanding player and will shine in the upcoming match."

Simeone concluded his remarks by highlighting the team's collective performance and the importance of certain players: "Overall, the match was good as a team. I feel comfortable and happy with the squad. Barrios is a different kind of player—energetic and capable of winning the ball back and moving effectively. We need to pay close attention to him because he is undoubtedly one of the most important midfielders."
