The Iraqi league resumed its activity after the international break, witnessing a strong confrontation between Al-Shorta and Al-Karkh at Al-Shaab International Stadium, as part of the seventh round competitions.

The match started strongly in favor of Al-Shorta, with the team imposing its control over the course of the game and dominating possession, creating some attacking chances, before Cameroonian striker Lionel Atiba scored the first goal for his team in the 28th minute, giving Al-Shorta a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.

At the start of the second half, Al-Shorta continued its superiority and control over the midfield, and Atiba managed to add the second goal in the 75th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 85th minute, securing an important victory over the Canaries.

With this win, Al-Shorta climbed to second place in the standings with 15 points, while Al-Karkh's points remained at 11, placing them eighth.
