Spanish National Team Excludes Yamal from November Camp
The Spanish Football Federation announced today, Tuesday, the exclusion of young Barcelona star, Lamine Yamal, from Spain's national team camp for the international break in November, after the player underwent a medical procedure without prior coordination with the national team's medical staff.
The federation stated in an official statement: "The medical services of the Spanish federation would like to express their astonishment and concern that they learned at 13:47 on Monday, November 10, the day the training camp began, that the player had undergone a radiofrequency procedure to treat discomfort in the groin area that same morning."
The statement added that the details of the procedure were later learned through a report that arrived at 22:40 in the evening, and the treating doctor recommended rest for 7 to 10 days.
The Spanish federation confirmed that the decision was made to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of the player, affirming its confidence in Yamal's ability to recover and develop positively, wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
It is worth noting that the Spanish national team will meet Georgia and Turkey on November 15 and 18 in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, while a dispute had previously arisen between Barcelona and the Spanish national team regarding Yamal's injury during the September break, as the club and its coach Hans Flick held the Spanish national team responsible for the excessive loads the player experienced.
