The Truth About the Dispute Between the Spanish Federation and Flick Over Yamal
Monday 10-11-2025
Rafael Lozan, the president of the Spanish Football Federation, confirmed in his statements that there is perfect coordination with FC Barcelona regarding the call-up of Lamine Yamal for Spain's last two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, stressing that everything is under control.

Lozan said: "We do this with Lamine, and of course with all the other players in the national team, we have special words of thanks for the clubs, they are the owners of the players, and we must maintain perfect coordination as it is now between the Spanish Federation and all the officials in the clubs at the administrative levels."

He added: "Luis de la Fuente certainly has a good relationship with everyone, in this regard, Barcelona's coach Hans Flick wants all his players to be in the best condition, and these are just simple discussions that won't go beyond that, as we haven't witnessed any tension or dispute at any time."

The president of the Spanish Federation continued: "We have acted in a coordinated manner and will always continue on this approach, because the club's feeling comes first, and the national team must take good care of the players, let them be reassured, there will be no controversy in this regard."

Regarding Spain's last two matches, Lozan said: "We must remain humble because football is like this, we have an important match in Georgia, then a confrontation with Turkey in Seville, where I believe we will be able to secure the top of the group and head confidently towards the World Cup draw in Washington."

He concluded his statements by saying: "The goal now is to focus on the players and keep them in the best condition with ongoing coordination between the federation and the clubs, to ensure that all call-ups are clear and coordinated and do not cause any problems for the clubs or the players."
