Algerian Derby Moves to 5 July Stadium Due to Deteriorating Pitch at Baraki
Friday 14-11-2025
The Algerian Professional Football League announced the relocation of the "derby" match between CR Belouizdad and USM Alger, for the eleventh round of the first division league, to the 5 July 1962 Stadium instead of the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.

This decision came after technical observations regarding the deterioration of the pitch at the Braqi Stadium, despite having hosted only two matches since its reopening. The facility's management is working to improve the quality of the grass in preparation for the upcoming match against the Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars on November 23, as part of the group stage of the African Confederation Cup.

This step is part of the continental preparations to ensure the stadium is ready for upcoming events, especially with the busy schedule of local and international competitions.

The derby match, which has a vengeful tone following the 2025 Algerian Cup final, will take place on Saturday, November 8, at the 5 July Stadium, with only the supporters of CR Belouizdad in attendance, in accordance with the decision of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).

Approximately 20,000 tickets will be made available for sale, as the upper stands of the stadium are closed for organizational and security reasons.
