The French defender William Saliba of the English team Arsenal spoke about the reason for rejecting the move to Real Madrid, before he decided to renew his contract recently with the Gunners.

Saliba said in statements to Téléfoot: "Of course, it is very tempting when a club like Real Madrid is interested in you, but I wanted to win titles with Arsenal first before thinking about anything else."

Arsenal recently announced the renewal of Saliba's contract until 2030, in a move aimed at retaining one of the team's key defensive elements, and blocking the path for clubs interested in signing him, foremost among them Real Madrid.

The royal club had targeted the French defender as one of its goals for next summer to strengthen and bolster its squad, noting that Real Madrid has several names on its agenda, including Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konaté.
