Marcus Rashford Tops Assist Makers in Europe
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that English star Marcus Rashford, a player for Barcelona, has become the player with the most assists in the top five European leagues this season, following his decisive pass against Real Madrid in the Clasico, which set up a goal for Fermín López at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The newspaper clarified that Rashford raised his tally to five assists in La Liga, a figure that no player in Europe has surpassed so far, with Luis Miya from Getafe sharing the same number, while in the Bundesliga, both Farès Chaïbi from Eintracht Frankfurt and Andrei Elia from Union Berlin are tied with him.
The newspaper added that Rashford provided assists in four consecutive matches against Valencia, Getafe, Oviedo, and Real Sociedad, before setting up the temporary equalizer against Real Madrid, and he also contributed in the Champions League by assisting a goal against Paris Saint-Germain.
The newspaper confirmed that the English player has also scored five goals this season, including a brace against Newcastle, two goals against Olympiakos, and one goal against Sevilla, bringing his total contributions to 11 goals between scoring and assisting.
The report noted that the absence of Raphinha, Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal has given Rashford the opportunity for continuous participation, which has helped him adapt to the style of coach Hans Flick, at a time when the English star is seeking to convince Barcelona's management to activate the option to buy him for 30 million euros.
