Fabregas: Proud of the Young Players and Their Performance Was Heroic
Sunday 02-11-2025
The Spanish Cesc Fabregas, head coach of Como, expressed his great pride in his players' performance after the goalless draw against Napoli, the reigning Italian champions, in the match held at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Fabregas said: "I am happy, but only to a certain extent; when you play like this, you should win. We took a new step today against the champions of Italy."

He added: "We pressured them like no team has done before at the Maradona stadium, we did this with three players aged 20, two aged 21, and one aged 22."

Fabregas spoke about Como's club project, saying: "People love to talk about the 100 million euros spent, but our investments were in youth, some of whom came for free. Playing here feels amazing; the name Maradona alone instills fear. The players influenced me for 75 minutes, then they knew how to handle the pressure at the end."

Fabregas also praised Napoli's coach Antonio Conte, with whom he previously worked at Chelsea, affirming his great respect for him. He said: "Antonio has a great passion and has developed a lot since we worked together at Chelsea. A serious coach is known by the identity of his team; we are developing, but the road is still long, as we are still at the beginning."
