Disciplinary Committee Declares the Goalkeeper's Contract with Al-Gharaf Unlawful with a Severe Fine
The Disciplinary Committee of the Iraqi Football Association announced last Wednesday its final decision regarding the complaint filed by Al-Najaf Club on August 31 against their goalkeeper Mujtaba Mohammed, after reviewing the contracts related to the player and the club representatives.
The complaint included the player's signing of a contract with Al-Najaf Club for two seasons on August 1, where the club paid the contract advance on October 10, before the player later signed a contract with Al-Gharaf.
During the committee meeting, they listened to Al-Najaf Club representative Fadel Mohammed Ali, who confirmed that the contract with the player was contingent upon obtaining a release card from Al-Nafit Basra Club, noting that the club was unable to pay the required amount to obtain the card, which led to the cancellation of the contract.
The committee confirmed in an official statement that the contract between Al-Najaf and Mujtaba Mohammed was not serious and was not registered with the Iraqi Federation, and therefore it is considered invalid and has no legal effect.
Accordingly, the Disciplinary Committee decided to fine goalkeeper Mujtaba Mohammed an amount of 30 million Iraqi dinars, in accordance with Article 88 of the Disciplinary and Ethical Regulations, with the possibility of appealing the decision.
