A report from the Spanish newspaper 'AS' revealed that Brazilian star Neymar Jr. is preparing to sign a new short-term contract with Santos FC, after initially planning to return to Europe before the upcoming World Cup.

According to the newspaper, Neymar (33 years old) has decided to extend his stay with his home club until further notice, as he wishes to regain his full fitness after a series of injuries, noting that his current contract ends on December 31.

Sources indicated that the anticipated reunion with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami will be postponed for now, as Neymar prefers to focus on his gradual return to the highest levels before considering a new European move.

Neymar had hoped to transfer to a European club in the second half of the current season to convince coach Carlo Ancelotti before the World Cup finals.
