The African Football Confederation issued an official statement revealing the final list of players nominated for the Best Goalkeeper Award in the African continent for the year 2025, which features a distinguished group of goalkeepers, including four Arab keepers.
The list includes Moroccan Yassine Bounou, goalkeeper of Al Hilal Saudi Club, Munir Mohamedi, goalkeeper of Moroccan club Nahdat Berkane, alongside Egyptian Ahmed El-Shenawy, goalkeeper of Pyramids FC, and Tunisian goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen, player of CS Sfaxien.
The list also includes Senegalese Edouard Mendy, goalkeeper of Al Ahli Saudi Club, as well as Marc Diouf, goalkeeper of Congolese club Mazembe, and Ronwen Williams, goalkeeper of South African club Sundowns. Additionally, the list features Cameroonian André Onana, the former goalkeeper of Manchester United and current goalkeeper of Trabzonspor in Turkey, as well as goalkeeper Wozinia, a player from Cape Verde, and finally Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper of South African club Chippa United.
It is worth noting that Yassine Bounou ranked fifth in the list of the top 10 goalkeepers in the Yashin Award for Best Goalkeeper in the World, presented by France Football as part of the Ballon d'Or awards, reflecting the high level at which the Moroccan goalkeeper performs both locally and internationally.
This list remains a clear indicator of the diversity of African talents in the goalkeeper position and embodies the fierce competition among the most prominent names for the title of Best Goalkeeper on the continent for 2025.
