Marco Silva is Nottingham Forest's top target to succeed Postecoglou

The British newspaper 'The Guardian' revealed that Nottingham Forest has placed coach Marco Silva, the current manager of Fulham, as the top choice to take over the managerial role of the team following the sacking of coach Ange Postecoglou.

The newspaper explained that the club owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to sack Postecoglou after the 3-0 defeat against Chelsea at the Forest stadium, a loss that extended the winless streak to eight consecutive matches in all competitions.

The newspaper noted that Marinakis began considering alternatives before the sacking, proposing several names including Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini, but ultimately focused on Marco Silva, who is under contract with Fulham that includes a release clause estimated at £13 million.

The report added that Silva's contract with Fulham ends at the end of the current season, and that Nottingham Forest's management is aware that signing him would be financially costly, especially after sacking two coaches this season and spending around £200 million in the summer transfer window.

Silva is one of Marinakis's preferred coaches, having previously worked under him at Olympiacos in Greece, where he won the Greek league title in the 2015/2016 season.

The newspaper also pointed out that Silva has shown interest in taking over the coaching of Nottingham Forest, as the club seeks to return to strong European competition.

It is worth mentioning that 48-year-old Marco Silva has been managing Fulham since 2021, and has previously coached Everton and Hull City in the Premier League, successfully establishing Fulham's position among the Premier League clubs in recent seasons.
