Youth Coach: The Referee Gifted Al-Ahli a Penalty
Emmanuel Alguacil, the coach of Al-Shabab club, criticized the refereeing team after the 1-1 draw with Al-Ahli in the fifth round of the Roshan Saudi League, yesterday, Friday.
Al-Ahli scored the opening goal through a penalty executed by the Englishman Ivan Toney in the 15th minute, then Al-Shabab equalized through the Belgian Matteo Dams, who scored an own goal in the 87th minute.
The youth coach said in his statement: "We did not start the match in our preferred way, and the referee gifted Al-Ahli a penalty, and before that, they did not pose any danger to us."
He continued: "I thank the Al-Shabab players for their great effort, and if we had not scored our goal, we would have pushed forward despite the shortage, and we wanted to win and secure three points, not just one."
He pointed out: "I am the coach, and I choose the appropriate method according to my opponents, and today the plan was to let them have possession."
He added: "We maintain our defensive strength, and when we have the ball, we knew we would pose a danger to them, and our goal was not just the point, but considering the circumstances of the match, I congratulate the players."
He concluded: "We have a number of injured players, and this affects us, and in the past matches, we made individual mistakes that, if they had not occurred, we would have seen a level similar to what we presented against Al-Ahli."
