Jesus Creates an 'Unbeatable Version' of Al-Nassr

The Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus succeeded in transforming the doubts surrounding his contract with Al-Nassr into absolute confidence, after leading the team to achieve remarkable results in various competitions, despite losing the Saudi Super Cup to Al-Ahli.

Under Jesus's leadership, Al-Nassr demonstrated a champion's character, as they triumphed over Al-Ittihad in Jeddah in an early test, taking the lead in the Saudi Professional League, confirming their ability to reclaim the league title that has been absent since 2019 amidst widespread fan acclaim.

The Portuguese coach is known for his strict discipline and firm tactical approach, which has reflected on the players' performance, particularly Cristiano Ronaldo, João Félix, Kingsley Coman, and Iñigo Martínez who came from Barcelona, resulting in a more solid and organized identity for Al-Nassr.

Currently, the global team sits atop the Saudi Professional League, leads its group in the AFC Champions League 2, reached the Round of 16 in the King's Cup, and has also reached the final of the Saudi Super Cup at the beginning of the current season.

Fouad Anwar, a former star of Al-Nassr and the Saudi national team, stated in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat that what Jesus is delivering is a very positive indicator, but he emphasized that winning titles still requires consistency and focus, especially in the league which represents the club's biggest goal this season.

Anwar noted that Jesus has devised a well-thought-out plan to manage Cristiano Ronaldo's efforts, deciding to involve him in about 75% of the season's matches only, to avoid fatigue and injuries, considering this a professional step that contributes to maintaining the Portuguese star's readiness.

Anwar added that one of the most significant positives of the Portuguese coach is the imposition of tactical discipline within the team and preventing any interference in his technical decisions, which has restored Al-Nassr's balance and technical stature after years of administrative and technical ambiguity.

He also pointed out that Jesus's previous experience with Al-Hilal has given him great knowledge in dealing with Saudi competitions, especially since he has an impressive coaching record that includes more than 25 titles with European and South American clubs, making him the most suitable choice to lead Al-Nassr.

Anwar concluded his remarks by affirming that Al-Nassr possesses the elements to win titles, but early judgment on its ability to secure the league title would be hasty, noting that the vision will become clearer by the end of the first round of the competition.

For his part, Jesus revealed that the desire of Cristiano Ronaldo and the sporting director, Simao Coutinho, were among the main reasons that pushed him to accept the leadership of Al-Nassr, emphasizing that coaching competing clubs in his career is not a new thing, but rather part of his professional nature.
