Officially: Jack Wilshere Appointed Manager of Luton Town
Luton Town FC has announced on its official website the appointment of former English star Jack Wilshere as the new head coach of the first team, succeeding the previous management in a move that represents a historic return for him to the club where he began his football career. The club also confirmed the appointment of Chris Powell as his assistant in the coaching staff.
Wilshere, 33, stated in remarks to the club's official website: "It is a great honor and pride to be chosen as the head coach of Luton Town. I feel like this completes the circle, as I started my football journey here when I was eight years old, and now I return as the head coach of the first team. I can't wait to start working and achieving success with this club."
Wilshere added that he aspires to build a team that plays with the spirit and historical values of the club, pointing out that the inspiring story of Luton Town, built on faith, unity, and hard work, will be a significant motivation for him in his new mission.
For his part, Gary Sweet, the CEO of Luton Town, stated on the official website: "Jack has the passion, intelligence, and modern vision that align with the club's ambitions. His vast experience and commitment to developing talent make him the ideal choice to lead the team in the upcoming phase."
It is worth noting that Jack Wilshere, who began his career at Luton Academy before moving to Arsenal, played 197 matches with the Gunners before having stints with West Ham, Bournemouth, and Aarhus in Denmark. He also worked as a coach at Arsenal Academy and briefly managed Norwich City last season.
Wilshere will officially start his mission by leading the team in its first match against Mansfield Town next Saturday in the English League One.
