Belaïli and Bounjah absent from Algeria vs Uganda match
Sunday 12-10-2025
The absence of the attacking duo, Youssef Belaïli and Baghdad Bounjah, from the Algerian national team has been confirmed for the match that will bring the 'Greens' together with the Ugandan team, the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, at the late Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, for the tenth and final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) clarified in an official statement released today, Sunday, that the players did not participate in the training session held on Saturday evening due to injuries sustained during the previous match against the Somali team.

The statement confirmed that Baghdad Bounjah is suffering from a knee injury, while Youssef Belaïli is dealing with a muscle injury, which necessitated subjecting them to precise medical examinations that showed they were unfit to participate in the match against Uganda.

The FAF added that the coaching staff, led by Vladimir Petkovic, decided to release the players from the current training camp, allowing them to continue treatment with their clubs, in order to ensure their health and readiness for upcoming commitments.

The Algerian national team enters the match having officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup finals after topping their group with 22 points, giving Petkovic the opportunity to try new elements before preparing for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
