Infantino Congratulates Algeria on Qualifying for the 2026 World Cup
Gianni Infantino, the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), sent an official and special congratulations to the Algerian national team following their well-deserved qualification for the 2026 World Cup, set to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In a message published on his official Instagram account, Infantino expressed his great pride in the achievement of the "Greens," stating: "I congratulate the Algerian team on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. For the fifth time in your history, the Algerian national anthem will echo in the largest global football arena, and your stars will shine again in the sky of international football. We cannot forget your historic victory over South Korea in the 2014 World Cup and reaching the round of 16 — and today you are opening a new chapter of glory."
The FIFA President added that this qualification is the result of significant collective efforts and continuous work from the players, coaching staff, and the Algerian Football Federation, affirming that Algeria represents a source of pride for the African continent and the Arab world.
Infantino concluded his message by saying that "Algeria's return to the World Cup after years of absence means a lot to the fans of the game; it is a country with a football history and heritage worthy of major tournaments."
This marks Algeria's fifth qualification in its history, following its previous participations in 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014, as the current generation, led by coach Vladimir Petkovic, aims to replicate the achievements of Brazil 2014 and advance to the later stages of the tournament.
