The Spanish club Real Oviedo announced this morning the dismissal of its coach Veljko Paunovic and his coaching staff, in a surprising move during the international break, despite the team not being in the relegation zone and having 6 points in their tally.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", the club thanked the Serbian coach for his professionalism, commitment, and dedication throughout his time leading the team, affirming that he will always remain in the memories of Oviedo fans and wishing him success in his future endeavors.

Paunovic took over as the coach of Real Oviedo last March and successfully led the team to a historic promotion to La Liga through the playoff after defeating Mirandes in the final.

The club clarified in its statement that the decision to terminate Paunovic's contract, which was set to run until June 30, 2026, also includes the complete departure of the entire coaching staff from the team.
