A Firm Message from Petkovic Before the Oran Clash
Tuesday 07-10-2025
Vladimir Petkovic, the coach of the Algerian national team, issued a clear warning to his players about the dangers of complacency in the upcoming match against the Somalia national team, scheduled for this Thursday at the Miloud Hadfi Stadium in Oran, as part of the ninth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The "Greens" need only three points from the remaining two matches against Somalia and Uganda to secure their official qualification for the World Cup, making Thursday's match a crucial milestone in the team's journey toward achieving their desired goal.

In a video posted by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) on its official pages, Petkovic was seen holding a small meeting with the players before the start of the first training session in the Sidi Moussa camp, which began yesterday, Monday. He emphasized the importance of treating the match seriously and not underestimating the opponent, despite their low ranking at 201st in the world.

The Swiss coach addressed his players, saying: "In just three days, you will face a very difficult match against an opponent who has performed well in the last three or four matches, so we must be fully focused."

His words received a positive response from the national team members, who showed great determination to achieve victory both in performance and result, confirming the "Greens" rightful place at the top of Group Seven and their deserved qualification for the upcoming World Cup with confidence and merit.
