A few days after Sergio Busquets announced his departure, Spanish left-back Jordi Alba also announced his retirement from football at the end of the current season, bringing an end to an extraordinary career that spanned over 15 years on the pitch.

Alba, who is 36 years old, announced his decision through a video he posted on his Instagram account, saying: "It is time to end an important stage in my life. I have decided to put an end to my career as a professional football player at the end of this season. I do this with complete conviction, and with full happiness and satisfaction, because I have given everything I have with great passion, and I feel that the time has come to open a new chapter and close the previous one with the best possible feeling."

The historic left-back, described as one of the best to have played the left-back position in the history of Spanish and world football, shone in his early days with Valencia before moving to Barcelona in 2012, where he made significant history as part of one of the club's best generations.

Alba won 6 La Liga titles with Barcelona, a UEFA Champions League title, a FIFA Club World Cup, and a European Championship with the Spanish national team.

Alba was one of Lionel Messi's closest partners on and off the pitch, and their exceptional understanding lasted until their last experience together at Inter Miami, where they concluded a journey filled with successes.

With Alba and Busquets announcing their departures together, Inter Miami is preparing to bid farewell to two pillars of the team who have left a significant mark on European and world football.
