The coach of the Algerian national team, Vladimir Baitkovic, has called up the defender of JS Kabylie, Zinedine Belaid, to replace the injured Mohamed Amin Togai, ahead of the last two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Somalia and Uganda.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) confirmed in an official statement today, Monday, that Togai has been excused from the current gathering following the injury he sustained yesterday, Sunday, with Esperance Tunis in a match against Etoile du Sahel during the ninth round of the local league, which forced him to leave the field early.

The statement indicated that Zinedine Belaid joined the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa this afternoon, in preparation for the upcoming matches on Thursday, October 9 in Oran against Somalia, and on Tuesday, October 14 at November 1 Stadium in Tizi Ouzou against Uganda.

The Algerian national team is scheduled to hold its first training session this evening in Sidi Moussa, before heading to Oran on Wednesday.

The "Greens" currently lead Group 7 of the qualifiers with 19 points, ahead of Mozambique and Uganda (15 points), while Guinea occupies fourth place with 11 points, followed by Botswana with 9 points, and Somalia with just 1 point.
