FIFA Reveals the 2026 World Cup Ball
The International Football Federation "FIFA" announced the launch of the official ball for the 2026 World Cup under the name "Trionda," designed by Adidas, in a new step as part of the preparations for this historic edition of the tournament, which will be held for the first time in three host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The name "Trionda" means "three waves" in Spanish, referring to the unity of the three host nations, which is reflected in the design that combines the colors red, green, and blue in their honor. The ball consists of four geometric panels with a fluidity resembling waves, forming a triangle at the center of the ball symbolizing this historic union.
The ball is adorned with symbols representing each country: a maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and a star for the United States, along with golden details inspired by the World Cup, reflecting the significance of this global event.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated: "The official ball for the 2026 World Cup is here, and it is magnificent! Adidas has created a new iconic ball that embodies the unity and passion among the three host nations. I can't wait to see it hit the net."
The World Cup ball features advanced technical innovations, including a structure of four panels with deep edges that enhance aerodynamic stability during flight, and prominent icons that improve ball control in wet conditions. It also contains an advanced sensor chip operating at 500 Hz that transmits precise data on the ball's movement in real time to the Video Assistant Referee system, supporting refereeing decisions, especially in offside situations.
The launch of the World Cup ball comes at a time when excitement is increasing for the 2026 World Cup, knowing that the draw ceremony will take place on December 5, 2025, in Washington, coinciding with the approaching determination of the qualified teams during the international match windows in October and November.
