Czszny Returns to Guard Barcelona's Goal
The Spanish newspaper 'Marca' reported that Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny will return to guard Barcelona's goal starting from today's match at the Montjuïc Stadium, following Juan Garcia's knee injury sustained in the final minutes of the match against Real Oviedo.
Szczęsny had reversed his retirement decision at the beginning of October to return to the pitch after Marc-André ter Stegen's injury, where he had an outstanding season that led the club to renew his contract until 2027.
According to the newspaper, the Polish goalkeeper participated in 30 matches last season, winning 24 of them with a success rate of 80%, and he also won three titles with the team: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
During his time guarding the goal, Barcelona kept a clean sheet on 14 occasions across all competitions, including a match against Real Sociedad. With ter Stegen's long absence, it is expected that Hans Flick will rely on Szczęsny as a primary option in the coming weeks, while the goalkeeper list will be completed by Kochin and Eder Alir.
