Mahmoud Al-Mawas Comments After Winning Against Duhok with Two Goals in the League
Syrian Mahmoud Al-Mawas, the striker for Al-Shorta and scorer of the two goals against Duhok, expressed his happiness with the strong start of the team in the Iraqi Stars League, confirming that the three points were necessary to enhance the 'Qithara's' chances in their title defense journey.
Al-Mawas said after the match: "We broke the bad luck of the start against Duhok and clearly controlled the course of the match. The team was mentally and physically present from the first minute until the final whistle."
He added: "We could have scored more than one goal, but haste in some plays and wasting opportunities deprived us of a bigger win. Nevertheless, the most important thing is that we collected the full points against a well-organized and tough opponent."
The Syrian star continued: "I apologize to the coaching staff and the fans for the missed opportunities, as a striker is always required to convert chances into goals. We will work on improving this aspect in the upcoming training sessions."
He added: "The team includes distinguished names, and I hope my teammate Ahmad Farhan returns to scoring quickly, as he is a very important player in the attacking system and will help us a lot in the upcoming phase."
Al-Mawas concluded his remarks by saying: "Our goal is clear, which is to maintain the title and make the large fans who support us in every match happy. We will fight for victory in all upcoming matches, whether inside Iraq or in continental competitions."
