The former Algerian international defender Fouzi Ghoulam revealed the reasons that affected his football career due to a series of injuries, confirming that his eagerness to return to the pitch was one of the main factors behind his repeated struggles.

Ghoulam stated in an interview with Sky Sport: "Against Manchester City, at the Maradona Stadium, I suffered that injury that affected my career. But I am proud to have defended the colors of Napoli."

He added: "Unfortunately, I rushed back after that incident, and it was a wrong decision that cost me another injury. But we were competing for the league title (Scudetto), and I wanted to contribute to the team as much as possible."

The former Napoli player explained that he wished to achieve more at the end of that season, prioritizing his health over his desire to win, adding: "Fortunately, after a few years, we won two Scudetto titles, and in the end, that is what matters most."

Ghoulam concluded his remarks by saying: "I still have an exceptional relationship with Napoli's fans. They gave me incredible love and support, and I created a bond with them that cannot be erased or broken."
