Exciting Developments.. Negreira's Son Accuses His Father and Barcelona
The Negreira case has seen a new development following the testimony of Javier Enriquez Romero, son of the former vice president of the referees' technical committee, as he leveled direct accusations against both FC Barcelona and his father regarding the amounts that were disbursed between 2001 and 2018, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport".
Javier stated before the judge that the €7.5 million was not paid for the analytical reports submitted to the club, clarifying that he only received €60,000, describing the relationship between his father and Barcelona as unethical, noting that he learned about it in 2018 and confronted his father about it.
In the same session, former club presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu appeared before the judge, along with former executive director Oscar Grau and former professional sports director Albert Soler.
Rosell clarified during the session that Real Madrid did not accept Barcelona's successes in recent years, while Ana Paula Rovas, Negreira's partner, refused to testify, insisting on her legal right.
The case, which began two and a half years ago based on a complaint from the public prosecutor's office, aims to determine whether the payments were intended to influence refereeing decisions in favor of Barcelona.
The judge is set to summon Joan Laporta, the current president of Barcelona, along with former coaches Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde to testify in November, amidst conflicting narratives and multiple testimonies, making this case one of the largest crises shaking the club's image in recent years.
