Barcelona Opens Its Champions League Campaign in Third Kit
Thursday 18-09-2025
Spanish club Barcelona will begin its 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League campaign against English side Newcastle United, wearing the new bright orange third kit, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport".

The Catalan team has played four matches in La Liga this season, and in two rounds, they had to wear last season's third kit due to the color similarity of their current kits with those of Mallorca and Levante, which will not happen in their first Champions League match, according to the newspaper.

The new kit is inspired by the design used between 2009 and 2011, featuring a combination of bright orange and dark blue on the back, with the number in blue and the player's name in orange, to avoid any confusion in visibility, according to the report.

La Liga requires that all elements on the back of the shirt be of a single color to ensure clarity in television broadcasts, which is why white will be used for both the number and the player's name in domestic league matches, while the original design will be used in the European competition, according to the same source.

Barcelona will appear at St. James' Park in the classic version of Nike's design, inspired by the Total 90 model, contrasting with Newcastle's black and white colors, hoping to achieve a positive start and earn the first three points in the tournament.
