Stefano Cusin, the coach of the Comoros national team, believes that facing the Moroccan team in the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 represents a historic moment for him and his team, affirming that the "Atlas Lions" are the favorites to win the continental title.

In an interview with the official website of the African Football Confederation, Cusin explained that playing against Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, in front of a large crowd, will be "full of emotions" and is a great honor for the Comoros national team.

The Italian coach confirmed that he felt overwhelming happiness following the announcement of the draw, considering that facing the host country is a unique opportunity to compete against one of the strongest African teams. He also emphasized that the Moroccan team currently enjoys a continental advantage, benefiting from the factors of home ground and fans, making it the top candidate for the title.

On the other hand, Cusin defended his team's chances, pointing out that Comoros did not qualify by chance, having topped a tough group that included Tunisia, Gambia, and Madagascar, which reflects – in his words – the value of the team and its ability to trouble its opponents.

The coach considered that pressure will be present on all teams, but Morocco will bear additional responsibility due to hosting the tournament and the expectations of its fans, noting that his players view this pressure as a motivation to deliver their best possible performance.

It is worth mentioning that the opening match of the "AFCON" will take place on December 21, where the Moroccan team will face its Comorian counterpart starting at 8 PM (GMT+1).
