Zakho is Close to Signing Iraqi National Team Defender
Thursday 11-09-2025
Zakho Club continues to strengthen its squad in preparation for the new season of the Iraqi Stars League, as it is close to signing right-back Hussein Ali, after he became a free agent following the termination of his contract with the Dutch club Heerenveen recently.

Hussein Ali is considered one of the players who has distinguished himself with an impressive career, having previously represented the Swedish clubs Örebro and Malmö in youth categories, and was also part of Sweden's national teams at various age levels. However, the coach of the Iraqi national team decided to exclude him recently due to his status as a 'player without a club,' despite having been one of the key pillars of the team in the past.

Zakho Club aims through this deal to strengthen its defense line, especially in the right-back position, and to add the player's international experience to the team, making it ready to face the challenges of the Iraqi league in the new season.

The arrival of Hussein Ali is considered an important step in the club's management efforts to strengthen the team's ranks, following recent movements in the transfer market that have seen various reinforcements for many positions.

It is expected that the deal will be officially announced in the coming days, after finalizing the details between Zakho's management and the player, which will enhance the coach's tactical options before the start of the new season's competitions.
