Al-Fayha Completes Foreign Player Roster with Mikel Villanueva
The Saudi club Al-Fayha has announced the completion of the signing of Venezuelan defender Mikel Villanueva on a free transfer for one season, thus completing the roster of foreign players over the age of eight in the first football team.
Villanueva has extensive international experience, having represented the Venezuelan national team and played for several European clubs, most notably Malaga and Cadiz in Spain, in addition to Santa Clara and Vitoria Guimarães in Portugal.
Villanueva is now part of the eight foreign players for Al-Fayha, which includes Panamanian Orlando Mosquera, English Chris Smalling, Algerian Yassine Benzia, Congolese Silver Janfola, Zambian Fashion Sakala, Spanish Jason Remisero, and Venezuelan Villanueva.
The club has also strengthened its squad with players of local birth by signing Cypriot Stilianous Frontis, born in 2004, coming from the Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia on loan, to occupy the local birth slot in the team.
This move is part of Al-Fayha's strategy to strengthen all lines of the team in preparation for competing in local tournaments, blending foreign experience with local youth and promising local-born players.
The club is keen to ensure the readiness of its foreign and local players before the official start of the season, ensuring the best performance levels and achieving the desired results.
