Nottingham Forest Announces the Dismissal of Nuno Santo from His Position
The English club Nottingham Forest officially announced today, Tuesday, the dismissal of Portuguese coach Nuno Santo from his position, less than two years after he took over the team's technical leadership.
The club's official statement said: "Nottingham Forest confirms that following recent developments, Nuno Santo has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team, and the club would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to Nuno for his significant contributions during a successful period at the City Ground, especially in the 2024/2025 season, which will remain etched in the club's history."
The statement added: "Nuno was a pivotal figure in the successes achieved by the team last season, and he will always remain a special part of Nottingham Forest's journey."
Nuno took charge of the team in December 2023, succeeding coach Steve Cooper, and led Forest to remain in the Premier League, before achieving a significant milestone by finishing the 2024/2025 season in seventh place and qualifying for the Europa League for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Despite the successes, the start of the current season has been disappointing, with the team's performance declining and suffering negative results, most notably a 3-0 loss to West Ham, alongside rising tensions between Nuno and the club's owner Evangelos Marinakis, which ultimately led to the decision to part ways with him.
