The Netherlands national team achieved a difficult and valuable victory against host Lithuania with a score of 3-2, in the sixth round of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, raising its points to 10 at the top of the group.

Memphis Depay opened the scoring early in the 11th minute, becoming the all-time top scorer for the Dutch national team with 51 international goals, surpassing Robin van Persie, and Quinten Timber added the second goal in the 33rd minute.

The Lithuanian team responded with two quick goals from Gvidas Genys in the 36th minute and Edvinas Girdvainis in the 43rd minute, ending the first half in a 2-2 draw.

In the second half, Depay returned to lead his team to victory by scoring the third goal in the 64th minute, continuing his brilliance with the Dutch national team.

Despite Lithuania's attempts to come back, the Dutch defense managed to maintain the score until the final whistle, achieving an important victory that enhances their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, leading by three points over Poland and Finland.

With this result, the Lithuanian team is in fourth place in the group standings with only 3 points.
