Bilbao Optimistic About Resolving Laporte's Transfer Crisis Soon
Thursday 04-09-2025
There are increasing signs within Athletic Bilbao regarding the possibility of resolving the crisis surrounding the transfer of French defender Aymeric Laporte, a player for Saudi club Al-Nassr, and being able to officially register him in a short period, despite the decision of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) rejecting his transfer.

The newspaper 'Marca' reported, citing journalist Joseba Laranaga, that Bilbao expects Laporte to be ready to participate with the team in about 15 days, should the appeal against FIFA's decision be accepted.

Bilbao's management confirmed that the issue does not relate to the club internally, but rather to external factors beyond their control, noting that they are monitoring all possible legal avenues to ensure the successful completion of the transfer.

Although Al-Nassr's offer was more financially lucrative, the player's desire to return to San Mamés Stadium played a crucial role, as he preferred to join a contract with less financial value rather than stay in Saudi Arabia.

Bilbao officials are confident that their clean record with FIFA will support their case, especially since the club has never been involved in disputes or cases before sports courts, which may give them an advantage before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Journalist Laranaga clarified that the situation remains complicated, as FIFA rarely reverses its decisions, but optimism prevails in Bilbao that the appeal will yield a positive outcome allowing Laporte to officially return to the team.
