Despite Agreement with Liverpool.. Guehi May Stay at Crystal Palace
Monday 01-09-2025
Despite reaching a preliminary agreement between Crystal Palace and Liverpool regarding the transfer of defender Marc Guehi for £35 million, the player is expected to remain with his current team during the 2025/2026 season.

Guehi has undergone part of the medical examinations and agreed to the terms of a five-year contract, but his coach Oliver Glasner strongly opposes his departure without a suitable replacement.

The young defender Jaidi Kanfout has been signed from Toulouse as a first step to secure a replacement, but the attempt to sign defender Igor Julio has not been completed, leading to the deal being put on hold while waiting for the situation to be resolved, as Glasner confirmed that the team needs to keep Guehi to ensure a strong start to the season.

It is worth noting that Marc Guehi's contract will expire at the end of the current season, and if it is not renewed, he will be able to move to any club without any financial compensation. The player has participated in 155 matches with Crystal Palace since joining from Chelsea in 2021, leading the team to win the FA Cup in May 2025.

In his last match, Guehi contributed a goal in his team's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, and Glasner confirmed his eagerness for the player to stay due to his significant impact both on and off the field, emphasizing that Guehi feels a sense of belonging and appreciation from the club and the fans.
