Tottenham Officially Signs Simons
The English club officially announced its signing of Dutch star Xavi Simons from German club Leipzig, after obtaining international clearance and a work permit.
The club stated: "The 22-year-old player has signed a long-term contract with the team and will wear the number 7 shirt."
Simons commented in his first statement: "I am very happy and I can't wait to start my journey here. I have been dreaming of this moment for a long time. It is a great club, and since I met the coach, I immediately realized that this is the right place for me. I will bring creativity and skill, but also hard work and discipline, and I will do everything I can to win for the team and the fans."
For his part, head coach Thomas Frank expressed his happiness with the deal: "I am very pleased to welcome Xavi; he is a fantastic addition to the team. He is still young but has a lot of experience and has played many matches at the highest level. He has proven his ability to score and assist, whether as a playmaker or a left winger, and he has a unique vision to break down defenses."
The deal cost Tottenham's coffers £51 million.
