UEFA Announces Change to Champions League Final Schedule
Thursday 28-08-2025
Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that the European Football Association has decided to change the schedule for the Champions League final starting from the 2025/2026 season, moving the kickoff time from 10 PM to 7 PM Cairo and Mecca time, instead of the traditional time since 2010.

UEFA explained that this decision aims to enhance the match day experience for fans, teams, and host cities by facilitating logistical operations and making attendance more comfortable for families and children, in addition to giving fans a chance to enjoy post-match celebrations better.

Fans in Asia will also benefit from this significant change, as the match will not take place at late night hours, increasing global viewing rates.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin confirmed that the innovative schedule allows the match to finish before late hours, even with extra time or penalty shootouts, giving fans the opportunity to have a good time after the match.

Ronan Evan, the executive director of Football Supporters Europe, confirmed fans' support for this amendment, noting that moving the match time reduces travel pressures and makes day trips more practical, thereby enhancing the quality of the final attendance experience and improving the welcoming atmosphere and services provided at UEFA events.
