Riyad Mahrez Achieves a New Title in His Career

The Algerian star Riyad Mahrez led his team Al-Ahli Jeddah to win the Saudi Super Cup after an exciting victory over traditional rival Al-Nassr in a penalty shootout (5-3), in the match that took place on Saturday evening at Hong Kong Stadium.

The regular time of the match ended in a 2-2 draw, as Al-Nassr opened the scoring through Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo in the 41st minute, but Al-Ahli equalized in the dying moments of the first half (45+5) through Ivorian Franck Kessié.

In the second half, Al-Nassr regained the lead with a goal from Croatian Marcelo Brozović in the 83rd minute, but Mahrez made the difference with a decisive assist from a corner kick, which his teammate Ibanez converted into a goal to equalize in the 88th minute, leading the match to penalties that smiled upon Mahrez's teammates.

This victory marks Mahrez's second title with Al-Ahli, after the historic achievement of previously lifting the AFC Champions League title.

Riyad Mahrez is considered one of the most decorated Algerian and African players, having won the African Player of the Year award once, the Premier League Player of the Season twice, and the League Player of the Year once, as well as being the league's top scorer.

In addition to winning the Africa Cup of Nations, the UEFA Champions League, five titles in the English Premier League, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, one Community Shield, one English second division title, and winning the AFC Champions League with Al-Ahli Jeddah.
