Nottingham Forest Considers Sacking Nuno Santo
Reports have revealed that Nottingham Forest is considering the ousting of Portuguese head coach Nuno Santo from his position due to a strained relationship with club owner, Greek Evangelos Marinakis.
Journalist Matteo Moretto, who specializes in the transfer market, confirmed via his account on the platform 'X' that the disputes between Santo and Marinakis, which recently flared up due to stalled transfers in the summer transfer market, have prompted the club's management to contemplate a managerial change.
Moretto pointed out that Nottingham has already begun to explore several alternative options and has opened channels of communication with various coaches in anticipation of a potential dismissal.
Nuno Santo had expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's delay in finalizing transfers during statements to 'Sky Sports' ahead of the season, saying: 'Our team is very behind; our plans have not succeeded; the preparations were not ideal; we do not know the current lineup.'
He added: 'There are players who know they will be leaving on loan; we have a big problem.'
Following these statements, Nottingham's management took action to secure several signings, the most notable being James McAtee from Manchester City, Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town, Douglas Luiz from Juventus, and Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais, in addition to Dan Ndoye to compensate for the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle.
It is worth mentioning that Nottingham Forest started the new season in the Premier League with a convincing 3-1 victory over Brentford.
Nuno Santo had led the team to a remarkable 2024/2025 season, returning them to participate in European competitions after years of absence.
