Manchester United Considers Surprising Return of De Gea
Sunday 17-08-2025
Reports have revealed the possibility of Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea returning to Manchester United, in a surprising move by the club's management to bolster the goalkeeper position during the remaining summer transfer window.

According to what was reported by 'Football Italia', the English club has begun its actual movements towards the veteran goalkeeper following a recent friendly match against his current team Fiorentina.

Manchester United is still searching for a replacement or competitor for Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has not delivered the expected performance since his transfer from Inter Milan. Hence, De Gea's name has emerged as a potential option for his return to Old Trafford, especially after receiving a warm welcome from the fans during the recent friendly match against Fiorentina.

Reports indicated that there is a clause in De Gea's contract with Fiorentina that allows him to leave for a low fee, which could pave the way for the goalkeeper's return to the Red Devils if a final agreement is reached between the parties involved.

Notably, De Gea himself hinted at the possibility of a return, as he posted on his official Instagram account after the match, saying: 'Our paths may cross again', in a clear reference to the potential resumption of his journey with Manchester United.
