The English police announced the arrest of the fan involved in the racial abuse incident directed at player Antoine Semenyo, the Bournemouth striker, during his team's match against Liverpool yesterday (4-2).
According to several media reports, the fan is 47 years old and was sitting in a wheelchair next to the touchline, where he directed racist remarks at Semenyo during the match.
The management of Liverpool FC condemned this incident in an official statement, released yesterday after the match, stating: "Liverpool Football Club is aware of the racial abuse during our match against Bournemouth."
They added: "We condemn racism and discrimination in all forms; there is no place for it in society or football."
