The Algerian Football Federation announced the death of federal referee Marwan Qasmi following the tragic accident that occurred on Friday evening in Ouled Harcha, where a transport bus fell, resulting in significant human losses.

A condolence statement read: "With deep sadness and sorrow, the President of the Algerian Football Federation received the news of the death of federal referee Marwan Qasmi, due to the tragic accident caused by the fall of a transport bus in Ouled Harcha. On this sad occasion, the President of the Federation, on his own behalf and on behalf of all members of the federal office, extends his heartfelt condolences and sincere expressions of sympathy to the family of the deceased, and to the entire refereeing family in Algeria, praying to the Almighty to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious gardens, and inspire his loved ones with beautiful patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return."

Qasmi's departure left a deep sense of sadness in the refereeing family and the football community, as he was known for his commitment and promising career on the national stage.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune also announced a national day of mourning for one day with the lowering of the national flag, allocating 10 million dinars to the victims' families in solidarity with them.

Interior Minister Ibrahim Mourad stated: He confirmed the effective implementation of the rescue and assistance plan, emphasizing the President's follow-up on the circumstances of caring for the victims.

Transport Minister Said Sayoud emphasized: He called on drivers to be responsible and not to speed recklessly, announcing a plan to renew more than 84,000 buses in the coming months.

This painful tragedy has once again put the issue of land transport safety under the microscope, amid calls to enhance preventive measures and modernize the national bus fleet.
