Historic Leap in Ranking: Saudi League Fourth Globally

The Saudi Professional League has achieved a historic leap in the annual salary ranking for football players, ranking fourth worldwide, surpassing the German league, according to a recent report from the global site 'Capology'.

The report confirmed that the English Premier League continues to dominate the top of the list, with total salaries reaching $2.438 billion for the 2025-2026 season, a significant margin ahead of its closest competitors among the major European leagues.

The Italian league came in second with a total salary of $1.270 billion, followed by the Spanish league in third with a total of $1.235 billion, maintaining its position among the top three globally in terms of player spending.

The Saudi league ranked fourth with an amount of $1.138 billion, surpassing the German league, which came fifth with a total of $1.120 billion, reflecting the direct economic and investment transformations taking place in the Roshan League.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for Al Nassr, topped the list of the highest-paid players in the Saudi league with an enormous annual salary of €208.4 million, while Algerian Riyad Mahrez came in second with €52 million, ahead of Frenchman Karim Benzema with €50 million.

Senegalese Sadio Mané ranked fourth with a salary of €40 million, while his compatriot Kalidou Koulibaly came in fifth with €34.7 million, while the list also included other prominent names such as Ivan Toney, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Aleksandar Mitrović, and N'Golo Kanté.

This tremendous growth in salaries confirms that the Saudi league has become one of the most important football destinations for global players, reflecting its increasing ambition to establish its position among the strongest and most attractive leagues for stars on the international stage.
