Al-Khulood Approaches Finalizing the Deal for Australian Goalkeeper Glover
The management of Al-Khulood Club has agreed with Australian goalkeeper Tom Glover, a player from Middlesbrough FC, to represent the first football team in the upcoming season, pending the approval of the Financial Sustainability Committee at the Ministry of Sports to officially complete the deal.
Glover is 27 years old and is under contract with Middlesbrough until the summer of 2026; however, he has been given the green light to join Al-Khulood during the current transfer window, in a move to strengthen the team's goalkeeping position.
This step comes as a replacement for the previous management's plan, which was aiming to renew the contract of Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, as the new management preferred to pursue a different foreign goalkeeper.
Before moving to Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023, Glover played for Melbourne City in Australia under the guidance of English coach Des Buckingham, who is currently coaching Al-Khulood, which enhances his potential integration with the team.
It is noteworthy that the ownership of Al-Khulood Club transferred last month to the American Harburg Group, led by businessman Ben Harburg, which canceled several deals made by the previous management and reshaped the coaching staff under Buckingham instead of Romanian coach Cosmin Contra.
