Zakho Club announced today that it has officially signed the Qatari coach Wissam Rizq to lead the team in the 2025-2026 football season, in a move that confirms the club's management's direction towards continuing to rely on the Qatari school in playing style.

Wissam Rizq previously supervised the training of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Club in the past season, but he was unable to achieve the desired results at that time, leading him to leave the team midway through the season. Nevertheless, Zakho officials believe that his experience and ability to implement modern football ideas can contribute positively to the team in the upcoming phase.

This direction follows the successful experience that Zakho had with the former Qatari coach Talal Ali Al-Balushi, who led the team to achieve remarkable results that the club had never achieved in its history, which motivated the management to seek to repeat the experience with a new coach from the same school.

In its official statement through the club's media platforms, it stated:

“From Qatar to my cities Ardwan and Ayaz, coach Wissam Rizq has signed a contract with our club for the 25-26 season.”

Zakho fans hope that Rizq can replicate the successes achieved with Al-Balushi and lead the team to compete for the top positions in the Iraqi Premier League, especially with his tactical vision and experience in handling big matches.
