Newcastle United is preparing to make an official offer to sign Marc Guehi, the captain of Crystal Palace, during the current summer transfer window, according to the British newspaper "The Times".

The report stated that Newcastle plans to make an offer of up to £40 million to acquire the services of the 25-year-old English defender, in an attempt to compensate for its previous failures in the current summer transfer market.

The report also indicated that Crystal Palace is asking for £50 million to part with Guehi, amid interest from several major clubs, including Liverpool.

Guehi has only one year left on his contract with Crystal Palace, which may prompt the London club to consider selling him this summer to avoid losing him for free in the summer of 2026. The player participated in 44 matches with Palace in all competitions last season, during which he scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists.
